Bournemouth Borough Council: Case Study - Strategic Review of ICT

A major review of ICT strategic capability in support of a corporate change programme.

Background

Bournemouth Borough Council (BBC) is embarking on a programme of major change under the banner of ‘Organising for Excellence’.  A review of the way ICT is organised forms part of the Council’s rolling programme for corporate strategic reviews and is considered to be a critical element in the change process.

Modena Consulting was asked to assist the Strategic ICT Manager by providing advice and assistance in the conduct of a review leading to the revision of the councils ICT Strategy. 

Objectives

The objective of this assignment is to provide advice and assistance to the Strategic ICT manager who is conducting the internal review of ICT services. Advice and guidance to cover such things as:

  • The process of review and the engagement style
  • Future business requirements to be supported and the consequential demands on ICT
  • Technical architectures to support the future needs of the council
  • Industry best practice and experience gained from other Councils
  • Review of ICT processes and current practices
  • Where requested, Modena consultants will attend or facilitate workshops in conjunction with the Strategic ICT Manager.
  • Modena consultants will also contribute content to the final ICT strategy review deliverables as agreed with the Strategic ICT Manager.
